At this stage of the research process students are critically and analytically working with the information they have found. This stage requires a great deal of teacher support, modeling and scaffolding, as this is a very frustrating stage for students. Without critical supports for students at this stage they will resort to copying and pasting especially when they encounter information that is beyond their reading comprehension level.

At this stage of the research process students have progressed to working with the information found within the resources they located in the previous stage but they still continue to use many of the tools and skills used at previous stages of the process such as, graphic organizers , social bookmarking and research planners .
